• Event calendars help us stay connected with events we care about and discover those that are new.

• Albuquerque Leather & Kink

  • ​Events more local to New Mexico, with some unique events more distant.  This requires signing up for a free account on Kommunity.

• KinkKal

  • ​An innovative and feature-filled calendar about local and world-wide events.  "Your next adventure is out there!"  Add your own events!  Leather Heart collaborates with Jake on this project.

• The Leather Journal

  • News including calendar items.  Since 1987, The Leather Journal has covered clubs, events, and community festivals and organizations.  Operated by Dave Rhodes, this resource continues to provide paper newsletters and online resources.

• History of New Mexico Alternative Communities

  • Explore events, groups, venues, media, and individuals that have contributed to our history and current culture.   Created by Leather Heart and all our contributors as a historical research project to serve New Mexico and the broader community.

• Carter Johnson Library & Collection (Traveling)

  • Usually travelling collections at events augmented by regional annex library collections.​

• Erotic Heritage Museum (Las Vegas)

  • Worth a visit when you're in Las Vegas!

• Leather Archives & Museum (Chicago)

  • Must see when you're in Chicago.  They hold live events for community in their space.​

• Leather Hall of Fame

  • This site and group recognizes individuals, organizations, and publications that have very long standing contribution to community.

• Leather Quilt Project (Traveling)

  • A traveling display around the country at various events.  Patches from organizations.  Great website to see all the patches.​

• NCSF (National Coalition of Sexual Freedom)

  • NCSF is a coalition of groups, clubs, businesses and professional organizations that serve consenting adults who engage in alternative sexual and relationship expressions.   You'll find information and services through NCSF.  Join!

These are some alternative community shopping experiences that we have found that give back to the community and may have additional resources available on their websites.

• Leather Daddy Skink Care Co

  • LeatherDaddy Skin Co. is more than just a skincare brand - it's a passion project founded by Chris Wright-Garcia, a Non-Binary Kinkster Switch, in Albuquerque, NM.  Their physical store is at 8019 Menaul Blvd NE, Suite C​.​

• Power Play Studio

  • ​A great array of items for community, and interesting list of Kink Aware Resources you may wish to explore.

These are alternative community organization with which Leather Heart is associated or aware, and may have value for the public to discover.

• Folsom Street Events

  • Organizers of Foslom Street Fair and Up Your Alley (Dore Alley) in San Francisco.  Similar events that you should attend in your journey of being alternative.

• NM-REAL (New Mexico Respect Ethics Acceptance in Leather, Inc.)

  •  An experiment as a non-profit community organization that creates inclusive spaces in an ethical and respectful manner.  They host many events that they and others produce.  Some of these include Kinktoberfest, NM Leather & Kink Fair, and Used & Abused Kinky Swap & Sale.

• NM Sisters

  • An aspirant organization that wishes to become associated ​with Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence®.

Being alternative may require closer attention to your sexual health if you make certain choices in your journey.  Being aware, getting tested, and being proactive in your sexual health matters for you and those around you.  These are great resources in New Mexico.

• MPower

  • Part of Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains, Inc., MPower is a New Mexico HIV program that offers free rapid HIV and Syphilis testing, PrEP navigation, safer sex supplies, and educational opportunities.

• Southwest Care

  • Southwest Care provides primary care, pediatrics, behavioral health, gender equity medicine, and pharmacy services at three locations across Santa Fe and Albuquerque.

• Truman Health Services

  • ​Part of UNM Health, Truman provides sexual health preventative treatment, testing, and health care for HIV, AIDS, Hep C, etc., in a safe environment.

Our alternative communities are likely to have more instances of persons needing mental health care for two primary reasons.  (1) They are often rejected from repressive normative society, and (2) persons with unresolved issues often find more acceptance in alternative communities.  These resource may help.

• AASECT (American Assoc of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists) (Directory)

  • AASECT promotes sexual health and freedom by the development and advancement of the fields of sexual therapy, counseling, and education.

• Dungeon Mental Health

  • PDF ​Flyer "Mental Health for Alternative Lifestyle Attendees
    Understanding: What to Expect & Self-Care," a version for New Mexico but also listing national resources, is also available as a Word document to adjust for your own location.  It describes mental health topics related to BDSM and dungeons and links to resources.

• Kink Aware Professionals (KAP)

  • A service of NCSF, KAP, provides a list of mental health professionals that are knowledgeable about alternative communizes at various various levels of experience: friendly, aware, and knowledgeable.​​
